one-dimensional poems

poetry clean

lazy intro / 1.
what comes now
an idea falling off a tree
into the grass which grows
green a place for me to lie
on tired days
when i am silent and thinking

2.
if i was given 9 lives

i would spend the first 8
trying to get 9 more

3.
if earth gave birth
i wonder how many humans
would ditch mother
to live in baby

4.

i saw you sleeping inside a mirror
with hair draped over your face
a curtain in front of your eyes
the wind took my gaze and tucked it in
under the sky and in the reflection of an ocean
you saw i was blind and trying
to find my way to you

5.
your lungs are coughing up blood
into the esophagus
and up into your throat
and onto your tongue
the blood arrives
and you spit your death at me

6.
i hope you are around
when i have nothing left
but hunger pains
and gunshot wounds
deserted in the trenches
i just want to see my friend
one last time

7.
the clock tells me to hurry
in my anxiety i sink
drowning in trite ghosts
falling from the sky

8.
this smooth ink
enters the page quietly
like a drop in the ocean
like a bird flying through a cloud
like a baby blinking
like a writer thinking
alone

9.
copycat growing grey
in old age sitting in a tree
mimicking the cuckoo birds
ready to die and ready
to grow wings

10.
pressure
squeeze the light
out of the sky
my sun is so big
it has so much life
i will never know the night

11.
i am thirsty
says the ocean
to the sky who flies
into tall mountains
which sprout into
clouds that burn the air
out of the world

12.
hey man in the grey jacket
you are eating an apple
and i am eating an apple too
we can be pals now, right
let's go on a walk in the park
and eat our apples together

13.
nothing comes as easily
as a bad poem
written in a few seconds
with sleep falling on the mind

14.
the softest face
in a dream never before
have i seen an angel
serene perfection

i do not want to forget
i looked down shyly
and when i looked up again
she was looking down
and she was in heaven

frantic end / 15.
john you are the coolest
can i be cool like you john
please can i be cool like john
can we do stuff together some time?
okay thanks john don't smack me
on the head with your guitar
i have enough brain damage
ya maybe just maybe ya john
don't hit me on the head with your guitar

poem for mary
not yet a ghost
the mysterious gardener
, skinless and bleeding,
asks, “Who
are you looking for?”

really, You.
unfinshed jesus poem #5

the midnight moon sags
the night sky presses down on the earth

Jesus,
tortured vagrant

the weight of the world

dragging his flesh to the ocean shore
to rest alone

as he gets colder
he pulls the tide over him like a blanket
closes his eyes
and drifts away to heaven

YES / NO
I don't know

yes i am falling
yes i will admit it
no i don't know
how this will end

               my glass heart
               shattering
               shatters
               shattered

                            i am young
                            and far away
                            i am not ready
                            to say
                            i am old

                                    you daring fantasy
                                    flipping diamonds from afar
                                    trading deep cuts
                                    that prick the heart

when i'm talking about you i'm really not talking about anyone
when i'm talking about anyone i'm really just talking about you
when i'm talking about him i'm really just talking about myself
when i'm talking about myself, i really am

yes i am falling
yes i admit it
yes you will catch me
i
think
it is
time
for me
to go.
we stared into the light,
and we dug holes into the earth.
i

this drink doesn't taste like blood or alcohol.
a small collection of poems on booze.
[contextual coordinates: 3-3:15pm, 3:30-3:40, rain, an unenjoyable drink i don't know why i tried, in a boombox]

 1.
dainty flowers losing
color in grey
they will die soon
anyway

terrible drinks
bitter.sweet
those fruity for
thirsty whens except

2s.
id know when you didnt see me cant you
but when did you or well thats the book i read
at the sight of fires in forests at christmas
it couldnt have been much worse what are you
talking about still this isn't quite coherent
well cohesive is what i meant to say but yes
its now just a good benefit to be messy
and not think? oh well yes exactly
lets not get complacent now
oh no why would we do that we aint going
to reveal our trix no more
no they arent for kids

3.
a ballroom pianist
stumbles to the seat
and mumbles some notes

with his broken hand
in his awkward posture
he plays
until the chords bend
in such unfamiliar ways
that he falls into a trance
and is asked to dance

4.
his veins are bursting
with pixie-stix powder
he's so high on sugar
i'm not sure if he could scream any louder

5.
a
burning tongue
with water flowing under it
no i would not like
to swallow this sip
of blood wine

6.
so here is my thought,”
said brain, looking important
happiness comes from altering
your perspective on death.”
heart took one glance behind her
and ran for her dear life
for she did not want to be
looking at death
at such a weird angle.

7.
after being invaded for what seemed like a century
president ghost took a vacation to the inner-city cemetery

8.
in the end
a mouth comes to swallow you up
at first you seem content
in this large blackhole
but soon you get sucked
to your death
down below.
but one day you will come
and see the light of day
once again
(only to be drowned).

of humble death
14 Poems }

these poems aren't anything i know.
none of these were "perfected". that wasn't the point.

they are all unfinished, they could all be greatly improved upon.
(they were written in less than 5 minutes each for goodness sakes.)
these poems aren't about creating quality, deep, meaningful insights of life.
i've tried writing poems as such, but i have failed.
a spontaneous project like this is a form of cleansing.
there are thoughts and voices embedded within me that want to get out, yet i don't know how to let them come.
instead of labouring over every thought i just let them stream out how they may.
so what is inside of me? these “14” poems reflect parts of what does.

i can't take credit for these words. (nor would i want to?)
they were embedded within me and i simply let them out.

11.
mister candy snacks on the blackjacks
behind the smoke shop in a tube top
bought at the thrift store on Tinmore
for a buck ten and a hand-stand

chandelier sunglasses block the masses
of poisonous gasses from giving him eye-rashes
he sits and clicks his pen until he crumbles into bits
of glass

10.
silly creature
gives birth
to serious creature

serious creature
grows up
and becomes
serious cop

one day
silly creature
throws destructive bomb
into terrified forest

terrified forest
blows up
and
serious cop
arrests
silly creature

9.
a birthday cake
sits lit
fourteen candles
burning away
distracted company
watch shooting stars
soar across the sky
and the birthday cake
melts into a puddle

8.
Mr. Rabbit bounces home
on a rainy afternoon.
But his house has collapsed
so he is sad.
Mr. Rabbit bounces up a tree
then his life ends
as he jumps from the tree.

6.
since leaving my mind
on a beautiful doorstep
one early afternoon
i have felt much better
about life
i am able to dance&sing
ad not care about a single thing

4.
what if
these words
meant nothing
to you
and nothing
to me

what if
what i
wrote
was meant

to seem
meaningful
when really
the
words
meant
nothing

3.
there is a flame
burning inside
a wooden house

this flame
catches fire
to the wooden frame

there is a thought
swimming inside
a drifting mind

this thought
catches waves
and gets carried away

2.
fourteen years
in a prison
fourteen tears
in a vision

1.
hit up the steak shack for a straight attack
shocked out from the freight jack busting fake stats
into the weight brats heading up trouble for the alley cats
limping the streets of bait traps
wrappin foil snacks in the house of royal bats
tappin slate plaques for the rate blacks
jumpin on the hardwood floors of the court no short boards
flanking the wrong plank in the snake-eyed prank
to get your best friend on blues

a loop in time.

sparkling.
a shattered peace
in lone heaven, unique.
sprinkled majestic drift.

from calm space
with devastated hands
and weak time
destructed. an angel

SIGHTLESS MIND
IN DULL NIGHT ---------------

stop making that big face:
- a whirlpool in slow motion
- slipping through calm thoughts
- harmless dizziness
- unnoticed damage from a tired city
